Cornerstone Recovery Day Treatment Program
Day treatment is a program for male and female adolescents, ages 12 to 18, who are having difficulty maintaining abstinence from mood altering chemicals and appropriate behaviors at lower levels of care, but can maintain in their current home environment. The day treatment program combines intensive substance abuse treatment services in addition to school. Half of the day is spent in a classroom setting earning school credits and the other half of the day is spent in therapeutic treatment groups.
The day treatment program:
· utilizes a holistic approach to address the cognitive/emotional/healthy decision-making skills of the adolescent,
· helps youth through the difficult phases of thinking through drug and lifestyle choices for themselves,
· utilizes an empowerment model that focuses upon engaging the adolescent and family members in the therapeutic process,
· gives adolescents the opportunity to explore attitudes, make healthier choices and develop alternatives to current behaviors.
Individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, skill building groups, education and recreation are used to help clients tackle substance abuse and mental health issues, develop positive and responsible behavior, and enhance family interaction.
Each client receives individual and family therapy sessions. Sessions are guided by the individual treatment plan, developed by the treatment team, client, parents and referring worker. Family therapy focuses on resolving issues within the family, strengthening communication skills, and discharge planning. Clients are also encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings.
Urine analysis is used to help assess changes and successes in each individual’s case and lifestyle choices. Continued drug and alcohol use or relapse will be evaluated by the clinical team for further recommendations.
